Question

Hi so I'm taking a cooking class on line, and it would be nice if I could have some help on one of the topics... If any one knows anything about cooking and how often a restaurant should be cleaned I'll give you a medal:) This site needs a cooking section.

Hi,

I see a lot of these sections. Awhile back, I saw someone asking to create a section because they were taking a football and athletic course, or a comedy course, or they're taking a course on American Sign Language. These are isolated posts - and though, they're not bad ideas, if we created every single group just because one person was taking a particular course, then we'd be overrun with groups.

Truth is, there needs to be more than one person. More around 100 people, because odds are, that group will get created, and the particular person it was made for will finish the class, and it will fall inactive (if not already.).

Sorry - but you'll have to try Yahoo Answers or finding a buddy on OpenStudy who has a common interest. Maybe if you can get a paper with signatures signed and people saying they want the group -- maybe, and only then, could it be created.

A think a few broad, top level topics that cover wide families of things are needed. Then there would be a place for it that would not be buried and have just a few questions. Sure, there would be some topic overlap, but there would be a chance for it.

How about a creative corner section, with subsections like cooking, drawing, that kinda stuff. It would cover cooking and potentially a lot more :)

Creative Corner and Physical/Hard Sciences would probably cover 95% of the things I have seen without a home. Earth Sciences and Astronomy are Physical/Hard, Creative covers this, sewing, the chibi stuff we have been abusing design with, and there was some guy in computer science that was looking to do some animation that could land there very easily.

Creating a section : "Creating Corner" is nice is better as it will include cooking, drawing, etc. stuff.

I agree with the making of "Creative Corner" group.

Moreover, I think, cooking is also a part of education system and it is the interest of most of the students as well. We're having some cooking experts too on OpenStudy. Also, it will surely attract more people to OpenStudy if we make such a group having cooking as a subsection.

@idku that was a bit annoying statement, everyone is not perfect. Each and every person needs improvement. Well we can say it with maths too, what is the need to study maths on OpenStudy, couldn't our teachers teach that to us? Teachers teach us, but most of the students are not able to understand the processes and they get their doubts solved here by the students of their age groups sometimes.

Similarly is with cooking.

I agree with Mathslover, that was a very rude statement. You don't know the filters here, some could not have a mother, their mom might not be good at cooking, orphanage, etc. I would really be careful what you say, that way you aren't hurting others feelings, or getting yourself in trouble.
