Can someone please help me write this thematic essay on Geography/Environment. I'm doing the Yangtze River and the Panama Canal.

The Theme is: Geographic factors have influenced historical developments and historical and events of nations and regions.

I just need help as to what goes in each paragraph and creating my thesis statement please help I'm a horrible thematic essay writer.

In general, I guess you can start by focusing on how the Yangtze River influenced China's development -- what made it so great for China? How did the Chinese view it and use it? You can likely write a paragraph or two based on that.

In another paragraph, you can then talk about the Panama Canal and why it's so important as one of the world's greatest "shortcuts" between two oceans. How as the world benefited from the canal and where it is?

Now look for a common thread between the two for the knock-out punch in your final summary fortifying the theme you have. The paragraphs written about both should provide plenty of reasons in showing how their location helped all of those that used them in many ways whether it was transporting goods to transporting military forces to respond to crises.
