Help..? If marc BC = 45°, what is the measure of the corresponding major arc? I got 315? I'm I right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Am I*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AB? Yeah it looks like that one is!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The major measures more than 180 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was going to say, either you are right if the major is the whole remaining angle, or it is 180-45.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

what not 360 -45 if you take a 45 degree arc out of the circumference, whats left..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes go with your first answer, major is more than 1/2 of a circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would the answer then be 135?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 315? I'm I right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i go with your 1st answer

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

have a look at this site, maths open reference... a great geometry reference http://www.mathopenref.com/arcminormajor.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OKay thanks guys :)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

just calculate 360 - 45 thats the angle subtended by the arc...

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

oops subtended by the major arc
