how would organisms be affected if enzymes were not specific and reusable?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

imagine your job was to take out the trash to the dumpster, but instead you put it under your bed, or that you had to turn on the air conditioner but instead you turn on the faucet. Of course I'm taking it to extremes as I'm just trying emphasize a point but thats sort of what would happen if an enzyme was not specific, tl;dr you would die lol If they were not reusable you would have to make an enzyme every time you needed to do something in your body. Your energy/nutrient intake would not be able to keep up and you would not be a large organism.
