What happens when you subtract a negative and the two - signs are side by side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think of it like this, that problem is actuly -52+27

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Subtract 52-27. Then insert the negative. Which the answer is -25.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to negatives = a posative as skiller was gonna say.

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

guys… don't provide answers. think about it this way: -52-(-27) ^ this will equal -52+27. because two negatives become positive. then add it together, hope this helped :)

Thank you @Jamierox4ev3r I already messaged Futuristic about it. The OpenStudy Code of Conduct specifically states "OpenStudy values the Learning process - not the ‘Give you an answer’ process Don’t post only answers - guide the asker to a solution." That was an answer right off the back, he did not participate at all. Try breaking it down into steps, then getting the asker to participate. That's what I do. You can read more about the Code of Conduct at: http://OpenStudy.com/code-of-conduct

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

good job @Skiller8860
