OpenStudy (anonymous):

The collapse of the Roman Empire is your best answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The vast majority of academic historians date the Middle Ages from 476 (fall of the Roman empire in the West) to 1492 (Discovery of the Americas by Columbus). The last Roman Emperor, Romulus Augustus was deposed 4 September 476 (not in August). The Renaissance was a cultural and intellectual movement in the arts and sciences, NOT a historical period; you won't find any academic historians who describe themselves as Renaissance historians. They're either Late Medievalists or Early Modern specialists.

Yahoo Answers sucks, that's why I go on here .-. @bookworm00981 I only reference that place if I want to "clarify" my answer. But @Kfins99 is correct, the Roman Empire's collapse led to the Middle Ages. You're also correct because of the accurate facts and details, but I advise you to not actively utilize that website.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with @Kfins99 :) the collapse of the Roman Empire. More specifically, the Western Roman Empire as the Eastern Roman Empire ascended, becoming the Byzantine Empire.

When the Roman Empire fell. This left Europe in the "Dark Ages" with no government, nothing to keep everything together, all what resulted in political chaos of kings taking control.. and then into feudalism where power was shifted to landowners instead of kings. They weren't really that "dark" if you think about how the Crusades in that time led them to new ideas to reshape Europe and it flourished most of all, so the Dark Ages really gave way to a lot of improvement for Europe. Hope this helps. : )

I Know @kittiwitti1 I just like to quote my sources, and not risk lawsuit lol. But to each his own. I just don't think it fair to take someone else's answer and not give credit.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

I do give credit to people I cite but they usually don't care @bookworm00981

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats good, but I didn't say you didn't lol. Sorry if it seemed that way.
