Simplify surd 24/8

mathslover (mathslover):

what is 24/8 ?

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

√24 over 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, kinda new to this topic

mathslover (mathslover):

No problem, see marchremax, I can write 24/8 as \(\cfrac{8 * 3}{8}\) right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

mathslover (mathslover):

So, cancel out the 8's there and you get : \(\cfrac{24}{8} = \cfrac{\color{blue}{8} \times \color{orange}{3}}{\color{blue}{8}} = \cfrac{\cancel{\color{blue}{8}} \times \color{orange}{3}}{\cancel{\color{blue}{8}} } = \color{orange}{3}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what happen to the √ cause what im doing is √24over8 = √8x√3 over 8

mathslover (mathslover):

So, you get : \(\color{blue}{\sqrt{\cfrac{24}{8}}} \color{red}{=} \color{orange}{\sqrt{3}}\)

mathslover (mathslover):

Did it help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah thanks alot i derped awhile :P

mathslover (mathslover):
