OpenStudy (idku):

it is given it is a parallelogram, right?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

yes

OpenStudy (idku):

So in a parallelogram, you always know, that....|dw:1383590054891:dw| make your conclusions using this, apply this to your parallelogram.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

y+12=6x and y=3x

OpenStudy (idku):

Yup! Can you solve for x and y?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

idk how to. that is where i am stuck

OpenStudy (idku):

y+12=6x y=3x you can use your second equation that says y=3x, substitute 3x for y into your first equation --> into y+12=6x

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

ohh! i feel so stupid. so it would be 3x+12=6x then it would be 12=3x then x=4. then you will plug in 4 in y=3x so it will be 3(4)=y then 12=y. so the answer is 12 thanks so much. i just completely forgot about that!

OpenStudy (idku):

Anytime! Your smart, you just needed one tip to do it.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

haha exactly ;)
