Please help, algebra (graph)

OpenStudy (jbo11):

well it is said that Mike is 3 years older than Dan which means for every year Dan is, Mike is 3 times that. for example, if Dan is 1 yr old, Mike is 3.

OpenStudy (jbo11):

You can get an equation relating the two ages with y=3x which will give you mikes age because you can think of Dan as the x. So if Dan is 1,2,3,4, etc. times by 3 and that is mike's age

OpenStudy (jbo11):

Or to write it backwards or for Dan's age, it would be y=(1/3)x because he is a third of Mike's age. So in this Mike is x so if he is 30,31, 35,36, etc, Dan is a third of that

OpenStudy (jbo11):

Not quite, that graph says when Mike is 0 yrs old, Dan is three, but Mike is the older one

OpenStudy (jbo11):

Still no
