What do i do with this equation because there is a negative in the absolute value. How do i solve? 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are two solutions obviously. simplify to 16<|-2x+4| then split it into two possible inequalities 16<-2x+4 and -16>-2x+4 solve each to x<-6 or x>10 x<-6 or x>10

Thanks, I was stuck on what to do with it. Wether to break it into two or not. My teacher is a first year teacher.. And I have him the first block. So it makes it difficult to learn at school. Thank you.
