Doing a really short short story for a history assignment. What do you guys think?
Mary was born in 1890 in New York City. She moved away to the outskirts of Ohio in 1907 with her family. She had a loving mother and father, and three older brothers. She loved to spend time in the garden full of roses in the backyard of their house. She had a boyfriend named James, whom she later met in September of 1909, and fell in love with. They were inseparable, and they got married in the summer of 1914. She gave birth to a son, who they named Joseph in the following year... In 1917, however, everything changed when her husband and three older brothers got drafted into World War I. She was very worried and was raising her child without a much needed father, as well as the worry over her siblings. She always was hoping to not hear bad news and prayed that they were safe. Things didn't go as she had hoped; she received news that her husband and two of her three brothers were killed in the war, which left her very distraught. She continued to live with her parents for a while, but was overcome with depression. In 1920, when women were given the right to vote, she voted for James Middleton Cox, instead of Warren G. Harding. In 1927, she moved back to New York City, and quickly adapted to the new changes of the 20th century, like NBC being the first major broadcast Network. She often visited the subways in NYC, and always had a basket of roses with her. The basket of roses served as memento of her life in Ohio.
I think its a good story, good work.
Me too, that's a great foundation for a bigger story! :3
