OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm working on an analogy of a cell to a factory. Could someone help me with the following terms: centriole, cytosol, secretory vessels (vacuoles), lysosome, microfilaments.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

sure...ummm wat have u written or tell me ur idea on dat so we can just work on it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used the mitochondria as the powerhouse, the cell membrane as the walls around the factory, ribosomes as factory workers, the vacuoles I used as a storage closet (sort of), the nucleus is the head quarters, golgi apparatus the warehouse...

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

cool..dats excellent....see centrioles are the points from where the spindle fibres arise and the chromosomes segregate...so u can include it in formation of new cell....so maybe something like opening a new branch of the factory...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh that's pretty cool that works

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

and lysosomes is the place where things are degraded. so maybe sort of a recycle unit...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for centrioles Im gonna use a secretary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, I think manager works better

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

umm...secretary would not be very correct...umm..ill think about it..

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

about microfilaments...they maintaain the integrity od the cell and the endomembrane system...i cant think of any analog....:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for integrity of cell i can think of just the material the factory is made of, like bricks or whatever

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ahhaa...yes dats perfect!!:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant think of cytosol though :/

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

cytosol is maybe creating the work environment...maybe some machine which maintains the internal temperature like a AC?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

its not just temperature...but many other things...
