what does your question mean?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
This is a question on my homework. It just says determine whether the equation defines y as a function of x and then gives that equation.
OpenStudy (nincompoop):
what does it mean?
what is a function, what makes it a function of x?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
a function is a relation that associates with each element of x exactly one element of y. I have no idea what makes it a function or if it is a function.
OpenStudy (nincompoop):
you did not define it in your own words?

f(x) = dog
y = dog

Help!!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
does not define y as a function of x, because some value(s) of x have more than one y.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
You're done.

Thanks!

You can solve it algebraically as well, and you'll still see y has more than 2 x values so it's not defined.
