Please help for a medal. Which one of these facts about mitochondria and chloroplasts constitutes support for the endosymbiotic theory? A. Their DNA resembles bacterial RNA. B. Their ribosomes resemble the ribosomes of bacteria. C. They are organelles that are found within plant cells. D. They reproduce by mitosis.
do you know all d characteristics of mitochondria and chloroplast?
like they have naked DNA in the matrix or cytosol etc etc?
Not all. I looked up what they had to do with the endosymbiotic theory but didn't find the answer.
•The mitochondrion consumes oxygen to efficiently extract energy from carbon sources like glucose, producing carbon dioxide and water in the process. •The chloroplast consumes water and carbon dioxide as it captures energy from light and funnels it into the chemical energy of glucose, releasing oxygen in the process. This is all I found
see it is proposed that mitochondria and chloroplast are of prokaryotic origin. so they have properties similar to prokaryotes. one i told u already they have naked DNA. the other which is ur ans is dat they have 70S type ribosomes which are found in prokaryotes. while eukaryotes have 80S type ribosomes. so this supports the endosymbiotic theory
I'm still confused on the answer.
@shrutipande9 I think c and d would be eliminated.
u r right...it cannot be A as well...because a DNA can never resemble an RNA. because DNA is a different molecule and RNA different. so the whole statement is wrong. so we come down 2 B.
Ok. I was leaning a little more towards B. Thank you!:)
happy to help:D
And I got it right:D
cool!:D good going:D
