OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats all i need for a thesis right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you said one to 2 sentences, a thesis statement is a fact, and what I previously just posted was a thesis statement so... yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shylene2121 Actually, a thesis statement is a bit more than that. A thesis statement is the roadmap for an essay. True, it states a fact but it is also your stance and evidence for that fact. It's your personal interpretation and the main idea of your essay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so @Jennaluv is on the right track, but you need a bit more in order to make it a correct thesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you tafkas77! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh @tafkas77

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem! :) Do you want an example of that interpretation thing I was talking about, or are you good? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

example plese

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure thing. :) Okay, so this is a thesis statement I wrote for an essay at my college. "In Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery,” the villagers develop an apathetic response to murder because of a conformist nature, ritualistic desensitization, and the unwillingness to accept responsibility for their actions." The thesis statement is typically one sentence found at the end of your first paragraph. First you mention the author and the work like I did above, and then comes your fact (what happens in the story) and then interpretation: "so-and-so did this (or such-and-such happened) because of reason 1, 2, and 3." Does this make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

Great! Do you need anything else or are you good? :)
