is 999.5- 8777 = 121.8 because I put a decimal between the 877.7 because it was a whole number did I do it right @SACAPUNTAS @SolomonZelman @johnweldon1993

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh? 8777 = 8777.0 You can't just arbitrarily put a decimal point between places though.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Not quite....8777 is a whole number...the decimal place is put AFTER it...8777.0000000 etc... so this would be 999.5 - 8777.0

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

ok let me try it real quick

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

7777.5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your result will be negative, but if that's confusing you, you can always flip the subtraction and then just put a negative sign on the result. That is to say, do 8777.0 - 999.5 and then negate the result.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Remember it is a smaller number MINUS a bigger number....you will get a negative result

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is basically what you started doing... but you have to remember to put the negative sign. So it's -7777.5

OpenStudy (jazzyluvsu123):

ok thanks
