MEDAL! What is the probability of rolling a 7 on a fair die? A. 0 B. 1/6 C. 1/2 D. 1

OpenStudy (phi):

isn't the highest number on a die 6 (six dots) ? How would you get a 7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk thats what my question was, so it would have t be zero right?

OpenStudy (phi):

you could do the experiment. keep rolling the die and count the number of sevens you get out of say 100 rolls... that would be close to the theoretical number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea so that would be 1/6 correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamil98

OpenStudy (shamil98):

well a die can have more than 6 , some have 12 ..

OpenStudy (shamil98):

I think it's zero..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, thats wat im thinking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They don't specify the number of sides so it's a bad question. However, to people who don't play complex board games or RPGs "a die" usually means 6 sides so they probably mean 6 sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so zero correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. You're never going to roll a 7 on a die that only goes 1-6. (Assuming it's labeled 1-6. It's not specified.)
