A kid's pool had a small opening through which water leaked out sometimes. Water was poured into the pool from time to time. The graph below shows the amount of water in the pool (y), in gallons, at a certain time (x), in hours. Which of the following statements best describes the amount of water in the pool? It is increasing during the time interval 4 < x < 7 hours. It is increasing during the time interval 10 < x < 50 hours. It is decreasing during the time interval 4 < x 7 hours. It is decreasing during the time interval 10 < x < 50 hours.

Here's the graph.

@Directrix @zepdrix @mathslover @radar @wio @Compassionate @Luigi0210 Anyone! Please help me!

OpenStudy (radar):

What would you say about the pool when x reaches 4 and continues until x=7

OpenStudy (radar):

Note the graph does not provide any info for x greater than 7, so you can discard choices 2 and 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, so would it be 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(That's what I think)

OpenStudy (radar):

It looks like the pool started getting additional water at x=4 and by the time x=7 had gained 50 gallons, I go along with what you chose.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much. Do you think you can help me with 2 more questions?

OpenStudy (radar):

I can try, but by posting them you are likely to get more people to help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I was going to post it any ways. ^-^

OpenStudy (radar):

good, I will be looking for it.
