1)Give the coordinates of two points on the line x = 5. 2)Give the coordinates of two points on the line y = -2. 3)Write the equation of the horizontal line passing through the point (-1, -8). 4)Write the equation of the vertical line passing through the point (3, 1). 5)Is the line with equation x = 4 horizontal or vertical? What is the slope of this line? 6)Is the line with equation y = -8 horizontal or vertical? What is the slope of this line?
anyone?
whats the point of this site if noone helps you..
Why not sketch the line x = 5? Do you know what that line looks like?
not exactly, is it just a vertical line through the 5th hash on a coordinate plane?
OK. It looks like this....
|dw:1383614270265:dw|
yeah thats what i meant
So you tell me, what are two points that lie on the line x = 5?
5,1 and 5,2?
yes, (5,1) and (5,2)...or even (5, -213)
Now you do question #2. Sketch the line y = -2.
aright cool, and im assuming the rest is the same thing? i really just needed that clarified. thanks alot

Your assignment is straightforward. If you have difficulty with something, write back. But try doing your assignment first by yourself, and then, if you are stuck, write back for help.
Alright thanks for the clarification. I knew it was easy, just forgot the basics. its been a while
When it says write an equation, its refering to slope intercept form right? y=mx+b
yes
so for #3 it would be y=8x+-8?
No. A horizontal line has the equation y = b, where b is a real number. You did that in #2 above. Look at my sketch..........
|dw:1383615080203:dw|
So sketch the point (-1,-8) and draw a horizontal line through that point. What is the equation of that line?
y=-8?
Yes. Correct.
You may want to make sure that your sketch in #2 is correct.
alright, thanks a lot. i have to go to bed, the homework isnt due untill friday. I will work on it later, and contact you if i need help. I will look at #2 also, have a good day
ok. Good Night.
