Write the equation of the line which passes through (2, 1) and is perpendicular to x = –2. (1 point)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What kind of line is x=-2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

intercept.I think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its a vertical line =p so, that means a line that is perpendicular to it must be horizontal right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. the equation of a horizontal line is just y=any y coordinate on the line so in this case y=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it can be y=0 or not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure i understand what you mean. the equation of the line is y=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i got it. But how do i find the slope when x=-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The slope of the line x=-2 is undefined as it is a vertical line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that one is impossible right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you said x=-2 is undefined so it's impossible to find the slope y=mx+b so where do i find the m and b.
