on a pie chart of favourite colours the BLUE sector takes up 135 degrees of an angle. What percentage of people must have chosen BLUE as their favourite colour? (Assume there is only one other colour than BLUE)

A full pie consists of 360 degrees. So our `proportion` of people that chose blue would be 135/360. Then changing this to a percent would give us:\[\Large \frac{135}{360}\times 100\]
