Find the numbers in the following arithmetic sequence. 8, 6, 4, ..., -14 Please show me the equation.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

An arithmetic sequence has a constant which is added or subtracted to arrive at the next term. The constant must be -2 so the sequence is 8, 6, 4, 2, 0, -2, -4, -6, -8, -10, -12, -14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Standard equation is a+(n-1)d where a is the first term and d is difference between consecutive terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the standard form of an arithmetic sequence? Either form (Recursive or explicit)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So your equation in this case would be 8+(n-1)*d, where d is the difference. which is subtracting 2. Plug in values of n or put the -14 on the y side and solve for n.
