OpenStudy (anonymous):

why is the cell division cell call daughter cells? in the mitosis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because cell produce new cell which.u can say these new cells are the offspring of first one. The name Daughter is a conventional use. After both mitosis and meiosis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@rizwanmehmood thanks. But I still don't get it why they are call daughter cells instead of son cells. Are your offsprings going to be daughters only?

OpenStudy (zale101):

because daughter cells are young cells that are genetically similar to the parent cells.

OpenStudy (zale101):

|dw:1383712843993:dw| The parent cell is the original cell that the two daughter cells got developed from.

OpenStudy (zale101):

parent cells and daughter cells are genetically identical, just like parents having twin daughters but instead of separately dividing, they all divide at once. A parent cell genetically form into two daughter cells.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is very complex to understand. because parents can have twins as boys too

OpenStudy (zale101):

Daughter cells are commonly used to refer to "mother," because when cells reproduces, it symbolizes when mothers give birth to daughters and the daughters will keep reproducing over and over again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks alot now that is clear

OpenStudy (zale101):

this is what cell division is all about, 'Reproduces over and over again'

OpenStudy (zale101):

ok, glad i made it clear for u :)
