inscribed angles find x?

Directrix (directrix):

Take a look at the attachment about inscribed angles. @inm17

Directrix (directrix):

@inm17 What do you think would be the measure of x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14?

Directrix (directrix):

Not quite. The angle has measure half the arc. So, if the angle is 28, 28 = (1/2)*x, and x = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand how to solve for x thats why i asked

Directrix (directrix):

The inscribed angle formula states that the angle has measure half of its intercepted arc. The angle has measure 28. So the intercepted arc has to be 28 * 2 = 56. 28 = (1/2) * x Multiply both sides by 2 56 = 2* (1/2) * x 56 = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt it be 4 since its half of 56 and yoiu have to take the half

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so when your trying to find x in problems like thiks yolu just multiply by 2 and get the answer?

Directrix (directrix):

For inscribed angles of a circle where you know the angle measure and are looking for the intercepted arc, then yes. But there are many types of angles associated with a circle, and they have different formulas.
