by calculating the surface area, you first need to know what an area is and the respective formula of each shape
I have this question that says to find the surface area. It is 6" X 3" X 2"
what is the shape?

alright, now you know the shape, now what is the formula for the area of a rectangle?
length X width
distance of the length multiply by the distance of the width... correct how many surface rectangles do rectangular prisms have?
I believe four surface rectangles and two squares. That equals to six faces of a rectangle.
