The ratio of surface area to volume of a cube having an edge of 2 inches is F. 2:3 G. 1:3 H. 6:1 J. 3:1 @nincompoop

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you calculate either the surface area or the volume of this cube? Which do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A cube has all equal sides. It means that the length, width and height is 2. Volume=2*2*2 Surface area= 3[2(2*2)] The volume would be 8 surface area would be 24. A ratio of surface area to volume would be 24:8. Simplified 3:8 (when divided by 8). @nincompoop

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

why 3:8? wouldn't 24:8 be 24/8:8/8 3:1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're correct up to 24:8 however, that simplifies to 3:1 Divide both 24 and 8 by 8 you get 3:1

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I gave you the proper break down in the other link http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5278f16be4b0ebf89029c41c study it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it is 3:1. It was a typo.
