Write the contrapositive of the statement. Then use the contrapositive to determine whether to conditional statement is true or false. If 10 does not divide the counting number, then 5 does not divide the counting number. A. If 5 divides the counting number, then 10 divides the counting number. false B. If 10 divides the counting number, then 5 divides the counting number. true C. If 10 divides the counting number, then 5 divides the counting number. false D. If 5 divides the counting number, then 10 divides the counting number. true
Starting with p ->q, the contrapositive is -q->-p p = "10 does not divide the counting number" q = "5 does not divide the counting number"
So is the answer gonna be (either A or D) or (either B or C) ?
that does not help me
This sentence: " If 10 does not divide the counting number, then 5 does not divide the counting number." is in the form p -> q.......These symbols stand for "If p, then q" . Does that make sense?
That helps some thanks
Maybe we should forget about symbols. Look at it this way. The contrapositive of "If p, then q" is "If not q, then not p".....perhaps that makes more sense.
The contrapositive of "If it is cloudy, it is raining." is "If it is not raining, it is not cloudy".
That does Thanks
The contrapositive of "If the baby is not a girl, he will not be happy" is "If he is happy, the baby is a girl."
