Can someone help with this question. The buffer capacity is defined as the anount of moles of acid or base needed to change the pH by 1 unit. If a strong acid is added to a buffer system will the pH increase or decrease by one unit when the buffer capacity is reached?

Adding a strong acid to any solution that is not a stronger acid will always make the pH decrease.
So if I add a conjugate base to the system to increase the pH of 1 or more the conjugate acid will have to deplete in order to maintain a certain pH right?
