What process takes place within mitochondria?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) What would you guess if you had to guess?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

VA. cellular respiration B. photosynthesis C. protein assembly D. reproduction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite :). Well, we know it's not reproduction, because that takes place in the entire cell. We know it's not protein assembly, because that takes place in the ribosomes. So you're left with photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Photosynthesis produces glucose. Cellular respiration takes that glucose and turns it into ATP or Adenine Triphosphate (energy for the cell). Mitochondria is known as the "energizer" of the cell. So given those choices, which one do you think it is?

OpenStudy (zenyu):

Its A
