all I see at 6.189 are python codes assignments and readings

Sorry. Let me try that again. I sent the wrong link. The Python course is based upon the 6.00 course and the lectures are the exact same. If you are having trouble getting up to speed with the basics, watch the first 10 videos here:

That should get you into Python enough to get more out of the other reference.
