12 can be written as: 11 + 9/9 3&2/9 = 3 + 2/9 12 - 3&2/9 = (11 + 9/9) - (3 + 2/9) = 11 + 9/9 - 3 - 2/9 = 11 - 3 + 9/9 - 2/9 = 8 +(9 - 2) / 9 = 8 + 7/9 = 8&7/9
