Take each choice and substitute in the inequalities to see which one is true. I will do the first one: (1,1) Put x = 1, y = 1 in 2x + y > 8 and in x − y < 2 2(1) + 1 > 8 3 > 8 This is not true and so we don't have to try the other one because we know (1,1) is not a solution. Try the other choices.
