what two number when multiplied equal 120 but when added equal 23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the two numbers can be called x and y. Can you write two equations relating x and y from the stem of your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um im doing a factoring problem so writing two equations wont really help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it will help. Can you write two equations? Or even one equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind the answer is 8 and 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want to know how to solve the problem. Answers are worthless if you cant solve the problem with equations. I assume you are here to learn and not just get answers. @lovelike_woee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i solved the problem, i didn't just get the answer. I figured out how to do it. your writing an equation thing was kind of confusing me but thank you anyways for spending your time on my question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you figure out how to solve the problem? @lovelike_woee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my home work is to factor 20a^2 -23a + 6. 20 x 6 t = 120 then i started to write out some multiplication facts and bam got my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you don't care how i solved? well thank you for enhancing my leaning experience! @Easyaspi314

OpenStudy (drewkatski):

That type of attitude wont make you learn faster, he is devoting his time to help you.. least you could do is be a bit respectful :s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did not say one disrespectful thing. if you read our whole conversation you should see i already thanked him and i told him i understood and didnt need his help anymore but thanks for taking the time. but he insisted on asking me how i got my answer and saying basically that i didn't learn, i just found the answer. so i took the time to explain it and he doesn't answer....so i do not have an attitude and i have already learned, so i don't know what you are saying by "learn faster". @Drewkatski

OpenStudy (drewkatski):

You got the answer via trial and error which isn't so reliable in timed exam situations.. There is an actual formula to get the answer, and I'm sure @Easyaspi314 would have helped you with that if you weren't so snappy.. but no probz, I'm gone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I don't have time to sit around and try to figure out an equation that wouldn't even be the best method to figure out my problem. I wasn't "snappy" until he wasted my time. I would just mind your on business unless math related and stop trying to start things. Thank you : ) @Drewkatski
