No. Use FOIL...we get 1 -3i + 7i - 6i^2 Since i^2 = -1, we get 1 -3i + 10i +6 = 7 + 7i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First line should read 1 - 3i + 10i - 6i^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You get 7 + 7i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have that as an option.. @Easyaspi314

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure why u know more than me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats the answer. Check to make sure that you typed the question correctly.

did we times it? because we were supposed too @Easyaspi314

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. I showed you the steps using FOIL.

@UsArmy3947 do u know what we did wrong?

OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

Simplifying (1 + 2i)(5 + -3i) Multiply (1 + 2i) * (5 + -3i) (1(5 + -3i) + 2i * (5 + -3i)) ((5 * 1 + -3i * 1) + 2i * (5 + -3i)) ((5 + -3i) + 2i * (5 + -3i)) (5 + -3i + (5 * 2i + -3i * 2i)) (5 + -3i + (10i + -6i2)) Combine like terms: -3i + 10i = 7i (5 + 7i + -6i2)

OpenStudy (usarmy3947):

yes :)
