find a quadratic equation with roots -1+4i and -1 - 4i i need step by step...

hartnn (hartnn):

hint : when 'a' is a root, (x-a) is the factor. so what will be the factor if -1+4i is the root ?

OpenStudy (rajat97):

if the roots are -1+4i and -1-4i, then we can write it in the following form (x+(-1+4i))(x(-1-4i))=0 or we can even write it in the general form i.e. x^2-(a+b)x+ab where a and b are the roots of the equation x^2-(-1+4i-1-4i)x+(-1+4i)(-1-4i) thus by solving this we get the equation as x^2+2x+17=0 i think so

ahh idk math overwhelms me. :(
