A party rental company has chairs and tables for rent. The total cost to rent 5 chairs and 3 tables is $39. The total cost to rent 2 chairs and 12 tables is $129. What is the cost to rent each chair and each table? Cost to rent each chair: Cost to rent each table: Can somebody show all the work AND the answers so I can understand the concept on how to do linear word problems. Thanks
lets call number of chairs c, and number of tables t and make some equations "cost to rent 5 chairs and 3 tables is $39" so that means 5c+3t=39 "cost to rent 2 chairs and 12 tables is $129" 2c+12t=129 understand so far?
This makes a little more sense now. Should I try solving for the equations?
Yep, its a system of equations. know what to do?
I think so. Let me give it a try and I'll post my answer and you can tell me if it is right or not.
Chairs: $1.50 and tables: $10.50
That is right =D
Yay, thank you :) I think I got this one finally. I might have some more topics I might need help with later. Thanks so much for the help. :)
