Suppose that 16 inches of wire cost 96 cents. At the same rate, how many inches of wire can be bought for 72 cents ?

this is a whole percentage thing. its actually quite simple.
What you're going to do is 96/16 and then that will spit out a number after you get that number you divide 72 by it and you have your answer
so 96/16 = 6 so 72 / 6 = 12
