Hi, any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no thats why i asked

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

We should start, as math does, withe definitions of "opposite" and "sum" so that we can put them together and try to find the "opposite of a sum," what do you think about that approach?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

The opposite of a sum of real numbers is equal to the sum of the opposites of the numbers. $$\huge -(a+b)=(-a)+(-b)$$
