Why did some senators oppose the Versailles Treaty? They wanted it to include a League of Nations. They believed the treaty would lead the U.S. into future wars. They wanted the United States to gain possession of Germany's colonies.

I'd go with the second choice -- they thought it would drag the US into future wars. Part of the requirement of the League of Nations was that members would be obligated to defend others threatened by belligerent powers. A number of senators believed that condition might drag the US into a war without any say from Congress and decided to vote against the treaty. A separate peace treaty with Germany was signed by the US as a result.
