help please? i have nooo idea how to do this..:( The function y = -0.03x^2 + 160x models the path of a kicked soccer ball. The height is y, the distance is x, and the units are meters. How far does the soccer ball go? Describe a reasonable domain and range for the function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess it goes straight up and then straight down the maximum height is when \(x=-\frac{b}{2a}=-\frac{160}{2(-.03)}=2666. 6\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seems rather unrealistic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in any case you can replace \(x\) by \(2666.6\) to find the maximum height, then double it to find the total distance traveled
