Pre-algebra question. 9/-4 = -2.25 how can i divide this? if so can someone show the steps? then i'll remember it! I'm new with algebra and i do like it but whenever i get stuck with something i ask my teacher but she's a bit busy, so i'm trying to find help because my book is vague. :(

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Look, here is the rule (write this in your notes): If you are multiplying or dividing with different signs, then you have a negative number. So basically, let's say that you have:\[-3\times4\]All you have to do since they have different signs is to divide them and ignore the signs, then make the product negative. So three times four is twelve, right? Duh. Well, the answer for negative three times four is negative twelve. Hope I helped. :}
