Does anyone know an easyy way to factor trinomials??

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

One quick way you can do it is to use the quadratic formula to find the roots. Then you use the roots to find the factors.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

For example, you can use the quadratic formula to solve x^2 + 5x + 6 = 0 to get x = -3 or x = -2 then you use these two roots to get x = -3 or x = -2 x+3 = 0 or x+2 = 0 (x+3)(x+2) = 0 because the leading coefficient is 1, we can stop here and say that x^2 + 5x + 6 factors to (x+3)(x+2)
