Question

you have been given a 5 liter and 3 liter container beside a water fountain in the park. There is pressure sensitive bomb and you have 60 seconds to put exactly 4 liters of water on the bombs sensor or every body within1000 metes will die. How are you gonna do it ?

Put 5 L in the 5 L container, pour 3 L into the 3 L container, then dump the 3 L container out, pour the remaining 2 L in the 5 L container, then refill the 5 L container, and pour 1 L into the 3L container leaving you with 4 L in the 5 L container - Don't spill!

Fill the 3 liter with the full 5 L container, empty the three L container and fill with the remaining two liters from the 5 Liter container.
now there is one liter that will fit into the three Liter container , so refill the 5 liter and then use that to top up the remaining liter in the smaller container. So then you have your four liters to put on the bomb sensor to save everybody. But yeah, don't spill or all the kids in the park are toast. Sorry I just rewrote it only cause I thought it might be easier to read if someone else looks at it, but I hope your there if i ever need you Archimedes :)
