OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

please help

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

The line with X-intercept is 4 and y-intercept is is -2 find the slope intercept form

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

kinda confused please help explain step by step with the info i have

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

@wolf1728

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

When the x intercept = 4; y = 0 and when y intercept = -2; x=0 So we have 2 points (4, 0) and (0, -2)

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

To see how to create an equation from 2 points, you can go here: http://1728.org/distance.htm or I can type an explanation.

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

type please i am trying to hurry

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

We'll use the equation b = y-mx b is the y intercept which is -2 -2 = y - mx (skipping a few steps here:) Equation is Y = 0.5 X -2

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

The slope intercept form is y = mx + b

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

2=B???

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

b = -2 Is there a problem?

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

oh forgot my negative

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

what is the setup for a point slope form?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

In other words how do you derive an equation with the slope intercept form?

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

ok

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

so it is the same?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

I think it is the same.

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

sorry kinda tierd almost passed out in the feild by the track trying to do homework and recover

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

thanks for the help

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

u r welcome - and go to the link I posted to learn about creating equations, slope intercept form, etc

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

glad i got same answer as you it means i read what you said right yay

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

all right !!! as they say great minds think alike!!

OpenStudy (andrewkaiser333):

yep
