plug x = -1 and y = -3 in every equation. if the left side = right side, (x, y) is on the line/equation if left side doesn't = right side (x, y) is not on the line

I don't get it o:

for C 5y = 12x - 3 plug in (x, y) = (-1, -3) so 5(-3) = 12(-1) -3 -15 = -15 this is TRUE. so (-1, -3) is on the line: 5y = 12x -3 for B -8y = 17x - 7 -8(-3) = 17(-1) - 7 24 = -24 this is NOT true. so (-1, -3) is not on this line. B is the answer.
