Can someone help me with a quick English question about a specific poem? Please?
What is it?
Here is the questions: Which sentence uses the word penned in the way that is most similar to the way it is used in line 1? The fence penned in the animals behind the barn. Maria penned the picture against a wall as she measured it. My brother penned a letter to the editor of a local newspaper. The wrestler penned down his opponent to win the match.
And here is the poem, its the first line: "A Valentine" by Edgar Allan Poe For her this rhyme is penned whose luminous eyes, Brightly expressive as the twins of Leda, Shall find her own sweet name, that nestling lies Upon the page, enwrapped from every reader. Search narrowly the lines!—they hold a treasure Divine—a talisman—an amulet That must be worn at heart. Search well the measure— The words—the syllables! Do not forget The trivialest point, or you may lose your labor And yet there is in this no Gordian knot Which one might not undo without a sabre, If one could merely comprehend the plot. Enwritten upon the leaf where now are peering Eyes scintillating soul, there lie perdus Three eloquent words oft uttered in the hearing Of poets, by poets—as the name is a poet's, too, Its letters, although naturally lying Like the knight Pinto—Mendez Ferdinando— Still form a synonym for Truth—Cease trying! You will not read the riddle, though you do the best you can do.
Can you help me too
I can try :)
the first one. Mine is Martin Luther King Jr. uses figurative language strategically throughout his letter to promote equality. How does the following instance help accomplish his purpose of challenging the church leaders to take action against racial injustice? In those days the Church was not merely a thermometer (strictly tells the temperature) that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat (changes the temperature) that transformed the mores of society. Respond in three to five complete sentences.
Thanks so much..
For me personally, I would say this: Based on the church, Martin Luther King Jr, would have to have solely great compelling points to prove to the church, and also fellow Americans need quality, blacks and whites. He most likely would have to have one church follow under his understanding, then more churches would mostly follow. Guessing on natural changes in America in this time, from shops and other places taking Martin Luther King's equality thoughts into effect (allowing black and whites), many churches would also follow along with America's changes to the equality standards. That is just my answer, that is what I would put, not saying it is right, that is what I would put.
Thanks so much. You saved my life. Be a fan of mine.
