Help finding a midpoint please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to find the midpoint between the focus (−2, 5) and a directrix of y = 13.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If you look at the picture I drew previously you will see that the point on the line y = 13 that is directly above the point (-2,5) is (-2,13). Find the midpoint of that segment.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have 9, I just want to check and make sure its right.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The midpoint would be an ordered pair.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1.5, 5.5)? I got 9 by adding 5 and 13 then dividing by 2 since they both had the same X's.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

To find the midpoint: add the x values and divide by 2 add the y values and divide by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did, that is how I got (1.5, 5.5)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is -2 + -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2+5=3/2=1.5 -2+13=11/2=5.5
