Start by getting rid of fractions and parentheses. What can you do to get rid of the fraction bar on the left side of the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ Do that! \[4(x + 4) = 6(3x - 1)\] Next multiply those out. Remember the distributive property: \(a(b + c) = ab + ac\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should get rid of the bottom part of the fraction first.

and what yo do to one side you do to the other. then you distribute what was above the parenthesis and then it's a simple 2 multistep equation.

the you have to bring your variables to one side and then you have to put your numbers on the other side and then you should know how to do the rest
