If f(x) = 3x+5 and g(x) = x-1, then f[g(0)]=?

hartnn (hartnn):

hi @tomshave :) can you first find g(0) ? by plugging in x = 0 in g(x) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g=0, right?

hartnn (hartnn):

no... when we put x= 0 in g(x) we get g(0) = 0-1 so ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh 0-1

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, so g(0) = -1 so, f(g(0)) = f(-1) can you find f(-1) now ? by plugging in x = -1 in f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so f(-1)=3(-1)+5? -3+5 = 2?

hartnn (hartnn):

absolutely correct! so, f[g(0)] = 2 got it ? any doubts ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, thank you very much. first time user, you helped a lot:p
