Please help me with this math I will be your bff and give medal! I don't know how to do any of the steps of this worksheet and really need it done ASAP. Pls help me and I will be your bff and give medal I attached it as pdf below here
i cant open a pdf on my computer. sorry. can you post the equations
Is there anything on there that is excluded? I mean, the graphing thing says "measure the length from the ground to your shoulder." So obviously I can't do that for you. :p
oh, its 55in i think
and the target is 1.5m off of the ground
Well which part don't you understand? A lot of this involves things like talking to your classmates. I can tell you how to do the linear regression and the quadratic regression but aside from that there isn't much we can do about it. You'll need a graphing calculator for it.
The second part is finding a quadratic equation given three points. If we plot the flight of the arrow given the information we have: |dw:1383962645837:dw|
@Emoticon Do you know what to do from here?
It's a line of best fit, it wouldn't be perfect, would it?
@halorazer I was doing the second part. Three points are given, and it's asking for the maximum height, which, modeled this way, is the vertex of the parabola. So finding the equation of this parabola seems to be the best path to the solution.
so how do i find the equation of the parabola?
The parabola would be written in the form \(y = ax^2 + bx + c\). You have three points, which means that you have three sets of x and y you can plug in. This will give you a system of three linear equations. \[1.39 = 0 + 0 + c \\ 1.26 = a(18^2) + b(18) + c \\ 0 = a(45^2) + b(45) + c\] You can solve this system of three equations and find a, b, and c, which gives you your equation.
As can you see, thanks to the simplicity of the first one, it quickly reduces itself to a system of two equations.
here is what i see so far, i think c=1.39 so the other equations are now 1.26=a(18^2)+b(18)+1.39 0=a(45^2)+b(45)+1.39
Yes, correct so far.
but that was easy because i know how variables work ._. now i have to figure out the rest. pls bear with me, i might have at least a slight amount of dyscalculia so i might ask a lot of questions. do know i am trying, i have been trying to do this problem all day
It's ok. Take your time. This is not a "nice looking" system. You might want to rewrite those squared terms as coefficients.
what are coefficients i can't find a and b but im trying
Coefficients are the numbers before variables that are multiplied by those variables. In the expression 5x the coefficient of x is 5. In the expression 1.3y the coefficient of y is 1.3. And so on.
oh, so they can be 1.26=324a+18b+1.39 0=2025a+45b+1.39
